APL Online Series Trophy #20: Main Event
The Main Event attracted 6,919 across numerous Day 1 flights to amass a crushing prize pool of CN¥ 12,018,026.24 (~US$ 1,861,154). 929 players advanced to Day 2. After a quick 50 minutes of play, the money flowed starting at 700th place. Another seven and a half hours later, Turkey’s “Forguy” defeated Belarusian Dmitry Yurasov to claim the title, the APL Trophy, and a handsome payout of CN¥ 1,432,519.92 (~US$ 221,920). This was the single largest first prize of the series and it was Forguy’s largest known win on the network. In fact, the top three players of this event were the single biggest earners of all the featured events.
Among the final 9 were Hungarian superstar Andras Nemeth (5th), popular Korean gamer Jinho Hong (7th), and anonymous Chinese player nicknamed “green balcony” (8th) who ran well at the APL side events with 17 final table cashes that included four wins. Other notable players in the top 50 were Enrico Camosci (14th), Bernardo “GGeKKo” Dias (15th), Hannes “BlackFortuna” Speiser (19th), Kakin de cu (31st), Xuming “scplayer” Qi” (39th), and Joao Vieira (44th).

The Super Stars Challenge was the highest buy-in event with a price tag of CN¥ 8,000 (~US$ 1,239). 505 entered to more than double the guarantee to CN¥ 3,838,000 (~US$ 594,570). 80 players earned a cut with Poland’s Gytis Lazauninkas locking up the trophy and the CN¥ 652,497.44 (~US$ 101,082) first prize. For runner up Matthias “KingKongJoel” Joelsson, it was another fantastic network finish having won the Natural8 – GGSF Main Event in late April. Also reaching the final table were well known Asian pros Vietnam’sNguyen Sang (7th) and Korea’s Jae Wook “Justin” Shin (9th). Shin also final table cashed at three side events.
